• We don't generally think much about our communication
  • Its one of the first things we do
  • We tend to assume it as a substrate of living.
• Inevitably, however, you create closet theories of how it works
  • One hopes that you learned some things in this course that will help you be a little more self-critical in those theories
  • And that will make you more effective as a public speaker
  • and, more generally, as an effective communicator
• For myself, I study Communication for a living.
• My focus, if you haven't figured it out already, is the structure of media and the messages that are inherent to those structures
• But lots of people actively study lots of elements of Communication, including everything we've covered here
• You can advance your study of communication within this department
